You may not be surprised to know that corrupt IAS Officers during the President Rule got the only mechanism available for curbing corruption in Karnataka. They clandestinely got the High Level Committee abolished and kept this a secret for nearly two years that too on the ground that the Lokayukta would be given more power in future!!
It is not surprising that only in the second Week of February 2010 the Lokayukta of Karnataka told the media that if he is given suo moto powers then within 24 hours both Vikasa Soudha and Vidhana Soudh would be empty !!
It should also not surprise any one who has watched or heard about rampant corruption in Karnataka the statement made to the media by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Sri MN Venkatachalaiah that all Departments in Karnataka are controlled by the Mafia!!
